An architecturally interesting complex was built at the place of the ramshackle and nearly demolished former furniture factory with a boiler room and a high factory chimney in Liptovský Mikulášand and it has livened up the whole locality. The inhabitants can enjoy a new shopping centre that satisfies the needs of the most demanding customers. STOP.SHOP. Centre Liptovský Mikuláš was opened on 11th November 2010 when the opening ceremony was held and all inhabitants and visitors were cordially welcomed.
A new shopping centre that was created thanks to the development company EXEMAXX Real Estate and the investor – IMMOFINANZ AG provides a pleasant environment not only for shopping but also for spending free time. It is a part of the centres that were originally opened under the name of BigBox in Nové Zámky, Trenčín and Poprad. Later the individual shopping centres called STOP.SHOP. spread to Púchov, Ružomberok, Lučenec, Zvolen, Dolný Kubín and Dudince nad Váhom.
The negotiations about the project started in 2007 when the city of Liptovský Mikuláš decided to replace the old object called LINAPO by a new, attractive centre, modern and high-quality services. Since STOP.SHOP. met all these attributes, its construction could have started. “The cooperation with the developer and later directly with the supplier of the building was very forthcoming. We took into account the comments of the city as well as the needs of the inhabitants of a neighbouring housing estate and a neighbouring secondary school. The investor also accepted our requirements regarding the transport, planting of greenery as well as the reconstruction of the pavement in Garbiarska Street,” says Ing.arch. Pavel Bobák, the representative of the city mayor of Liptovský Mikuláš.
A business-shopping centres of this kind have a positive feedback right in the cities over 20 thousand inhabitants. Their size is usually from 5,000 to 8,000m2 and they are situated in the outskirts of the city. However the STOP.SHOP. in Liptovský Mikuláš exceeds these parameters – it is unusual because of its area (circa 13,000 m2) but also because of the combination of a retail part with a shopping gallery. Moreover, it is situated in the city centre. „We succeeded in building the biggest shopping centre in the city of Liptovský Mikuláš. Moreover it is easily accessible for all the inhabitants thanks to its position” say the representatives of the company EYEMAXX Real Estate. There are 383 parking spaces in total for visitors – 141 in garages and the rest on the external parking area.
The opening of a new shopping centre had several significant benefits. Apart from employing approximately 200 people, it attracted many visitors to the city. Of course, it also supported the development of tourism in the region and indirectly contributed to the prosperity of existing or newly-created stores in the historical city centre.
What is the offer of STOP.SHOP. centre? There are approximately 40 trademarks situated under one roof. Thanks to the international know-how the developer was able to situate there the brands such as C&A, Coop Jednota TEMPO – supermarket, NewYorker, Gate, EXIsport, DM drogerie markt, TAKKO, Deichmann, KIK, OKAY, Sportisimo and many others.
